It's no surprise the Florida Rap music scene has been alive and thriving for at least the past five years. Being a Floridian myself I was able to watch some of the best of the best from the Florida music scene from 2016 to the present, grow into superstars. Acts like Ski Mask The Slump God, Kodak Black, Smokepurpp and the late XXXtentacion made the state a whole vibe as they worked their way up the charts and became more established. It got me thinking, who are the top 5 Florida rappers out right now? Well here's my list, in no specific order or preference. 

1) Trapland Pat has been making wave in the music industry as of late with singles like "Big Business" and "Crash" which has blown up all over digital streaming platforms. Pat is the quintessential Florida artist, from his look to the things he raps about. Pat began rapping after a football career got cut short in college and brings the same level of competitive spirit and exuberance to all of his work. The big hair and gold teeth are reminiscent not only of Kodak Black, but of a whole portion of the Florida scene. Pat is able to carve a shirtless lane for himself and on the back of some pretty impressive bars no less.

2) Yungeen Ace's feature on SpinaBenz's breakout hit "Who I Smoke" solidified him as one of the best Florida rappers to date. The song samples Vanessa Carlton's song "A Thousand Miles" and it absolutely broke the internet once it was released because of the crazy duality the song builds between the soft rock classic and the heavy-handed bars that Yungeen and crew hurl at their opps. The song vaulted him into the national conversation once the "Who I Smoke" video hit and he has been pointed to as an example of the opp-based music coming out of certain portions of Florida.

3) Tampa, Florida's Doechii is my absolute favorite. Her rise seems like it happened overnight but it's been years in the making. Doechii is not only an exemplary lyricist and composer but also a performer. She not only has a natural talent and hard work ethic to go along, but she also has the "IT" factor. mark my words Doechii is set to become a megastar. Her music is so versatile, she has a song for every mood! Doechii recently performed at Isaiah Rashad's listening party and is featured on his latest single "Wat U Sed."
